The Panacea (Position Chrome, Kniteforce, PRSPCT Recordings)
Mathis Mootz, the teutonic mastermind and producer behind The Panacea from Berlin, Germany, has developed and perfected his drum & bass mashup style over the years. The Panacea is digital euphoria, he samples and throws together elements of hardcore techno, drum'n'bass, rave and industrial creating a truly powerful, explosive sound.
As the dominant face of the iconic german record label Position Chrome he has released over 25 ep's and 6 albums since 1996. His debut 'Low Profile Darkness' was one of his most influential works to date and a huge success with over 12.000 copies sold. It received diverse support from a variety of genres such as metal, industrial, goth and punk. it was truly ground zero, a monolith for heavy music to come. Others followed like the techno & hardcore influenced 'Twisted Designz','Phoenix Metabolism' with it's hip hop & booty-bass roots, the enormous 'German Engineering' & 'Underground Superstardom', as well as the experimental & noisy 'Architettura' and the epic 'Chiropteran', released in 2010.

Having collaborated for a number of years under the alias The Outside Agency, together they masterfully blend elements of Drum & Bass, Hardcore and Dubstep.

1) What can we expect from your forthcoming PRSPCT album Peer to Peer Pressure?
It’s a drum & bass album. That may sound obvious, but in recent years we’ve made quite a name for ourselves by crossbreeding drum & bass and hardcore. We wanted to do a pure drum & bass album. We’re sure that a lot of people will still find it pretty hardcore, but once they’ve checked out all the tracks in the Filthcast they should be able to smell the difference between the album and some of our recent crossover stuff we did as The Outside Agency. The album still goes all over the place in terms of style and tempo, but its predominantly drum & bass. Our kind of drum & bass, of course. Infused with electro, drumstep, dubstep and, okay… just a smidge of hardcore. It’s in there somewhere. Our kind of pure.
The album will be available on four 10” records. They’ll come bundled with a CD that has all the tracks from the vinyl edition on it and three additional bonus tracks. 11 in total. The CD will also be sold separately and the digital versions should be available the same week as well.
2) You teamed up with the legendary MC Computer Voice on this Filthcast. What was that like?
We’re pretty fortunate to always have had a pretty decent stable of forward-thinking MCs with mostly impeccable timing available to us. It’s mainly MC Whiteboard, MC Flipchart and MC Beer Coaster who accompany us to gigs, but the bulk of our studio work has been with MC Void Sector Robot. He hooked up with MC Computer Voice while vacationing on the Cayman Islands recently and suggested she start doing some work with us under his supervision. As you can hear from the Filthcast she’s got an insanely tight flow and we look forward to collaborating with her on future projects.
3) What is your favourite Filthcast other than this one you just did?
The one we’re going to do after this one!
